"Acme House" now named "The Lighthouse" was built in 1877. The building started its life as a chemist with reading rooms and billiard room above. Boots the Chemist later bought the building until they moved further down the road in 1990 and the building became a furniture shop. In 2002 after four months of refurbishment, the building was transformed to a three-floor restaurant named "The Lighthouse" and is still run by the same family today.
The Lighthouse - three levels - three experiences
At The Lighthouse our three levels offer three totally different and unique experiences catering for all your needs. Whatever time of day we have something to offer you opening at 8.30 am with our Breakfast menu and continuing throughout the day. The ground floor cafe bar on your arrival is the place to chill out with a quiet drink or perhaps be more extravagent and try one of our cocktails personally made for you. If the Lakeland weather is amicable sit outside on the street terrace and enjoy your drink. Take a look at our menus and choose from simple dishes, salads or local prime steaks and then follow upstairs to enjoy your meal in the panoramic restaurant or for larger parties take to the top floor where we can accommodate large groups up to 30 people.
